Leah Lavina (Young) Anderson Leah Lavina Anderson entered God’s glorious kingdom on March 8, 2019. Mrs. Anderson was born in Nanticoke on October 8, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Ernest S. Young and Lavina Young Graduated from Nanticoke High School, and went on to St Luke’s School of Nursing, Bethehem, Pa graduating with a Nursing Certificate in 1960. She attended evening classes at Wilkes College, Wilkes-Barre, PA from 1960 – 1962 Employed at Valley Forge General Hospital, Phoenixville, PA from 1962 -1965, as a Staff Registered Nurse, she was assigned to the general surgical and orthopedic ward where she was held in high esteem by staff and patients alike for her sympathy and tact.

Because of her leadership potential she was asked to, and did, travel to Saigon, Vietnam in 1962 to assist in setting up and training nurses at a military base while troops were deployed for training purposes prior to the war. Married Charlie Donald Anderson at Trinity Episcopal Church, Mt Pocono, Pa on December 19, 1964, they resided in Gouldsboro, Pennsylvania and eventually moved to Greenville, NC in November of 1984. Throughout her life Leah shared her creativity in many ways; such as teaching ceramics at Tobyhanna Army Base, joining the Knitters Group at St. Paul’s, the Greenville Quilters Guild or doing needlework.

She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. She had an adventurous and caring spirit, enjoying vacations on the Outer Banks and Ocracoke especially. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 1pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Greenville, NC with a reception following.

Leah is survived by her daughter, Debra Kellerman and husband Larry Kellerman, of Pennsylvania, daughter Charline Henry and husband Jason Henry, and granddaughter Samantha Henry of Virginia. She is preceded in death by her brother, Ernest S. Young and husband Charlie D. Anderson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Leah’s name to the American Cancer Society or to St. Lydia’s at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Greenville, NC.
