Obituary of Lee Hunsucker Lee Robert Hunsucker, age 89, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Mr. Hunsucker was born in Marion, SC on February 9, 1929 to Maxie Lavern and Lela Cooper Hunsucker. He had a big heart and strong faith in God and was a member of Hopewell Friends Meeting.

He was a member of the Army National Guard. He worked for Winn-Dixie for 19 ½ years before opening the Big Dipper Restaurant in Asheboro, NC, which he and his family operated for 29 ½ years. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Violet Crowley Hunsucker, and his brothers, Fred, Mack, and George Hunsucker.

He is survived by one son, James Vernon Hunsucker and wife Karen of Asheboro; two daughters, Joyce Luther and husband Sammy of Asheboro, and Betty Callicutt and husband Roger of Asheboro; grandchildren, Jamie Hogan and husband Shawn, Laura Williams and husband Nevada, Kenneth Callicutt and wife Carrie, Lisa Flowers and husband Steven, Harvey Callicutt and wife Lori, Amanda Hinshaw and husband Joseph, Matthew Hunsucker (Vanessa), and Sabrina Smith; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and brother, Edward Hunsucker of Santee Cooper, SC. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Staywell Senior Care and the staff of the Randolph Hospice House for the loving care and concern given to Lee. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 1:30-2:30 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro.

A memorial service will follow on Thursday at 3:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Sessoms and Rev. Mike Butler officiating.

Burial will be in the Hopewell Friends Meeting Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Hopewell Friends Meeting Cemetery Fund, 2244 Hopewell Friends Road, Asheboro, NC 27205 or Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009.
