Leo A. Thibeault Loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle Leo A. Thibeault, 87, of Pelham, died Thursday, May 17th at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to the late Olive C. “Babs” (Fielding) Thibeault who died December 25, 2013. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, February 9, 1931, the son of the late Alfred and the late Albertine (Martineau) Thibeault, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School with the Class of 1949.
A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Leo proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars, the Meritorious Unit Commendation Award, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Before retiring, he was working as a U.S. Army Recruiter as a Chief Warrant Officer while in the Army Reserves. He was also an Auxiliary Police Officer with the town of Dracut.
Among his many interests, Leo loved working with his hands and was known to be able to design and/or fix anything. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 100 in Pelham. Leo was devoted to his family.
He enjoyed spending time with them and especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, he enjoyed watching the games with his family cheering on all the Boston teams. He was the type of person who was quickly loved and adored by all those who had the good fortune to come in contact with him.
Leo is survived by two daughters Cheryl A. Concannon and her husband James of Frederick, MD and Irene M. Nowe and her husband Steven of Wesley Chapel, FL; four sons Larry K. Thibeault and his wife Laurie of Brookline, NH, David M. Thibeault and his wife Allyson of Dracut, MA, Ronald A. Thibeault and his wife Charlene of Windham, NH and Mark S. Thibeault of Pelham, NH; twenty grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Irene Ireson.
