Obituary for Lewis Edward Wahl Lewis Edward “Ed” Wahl, 88, of Nankin, passed away Monday evening, January 14, 2019 at his residence. Ed was born June 24, 1930 in Ashland County to the late Andrew and Emma (Delong) Wahl and had been a resident of Ashland County his entire lifetime. His work career began when he started delivering milk for the Emmon’s Dairy, he then worked for Sharps Wholesale Grocery, Dalton Drilling Co. in Wooster, Ashland Ford Tractor Sales, then the Mapleton School District where he worked as a custodian and school bus driver.

He retired from his custodial position in 1997 and from school bus driving in 2005, however he continued to work part time in the school cafeteria for a time. From 1969 until 1997 he served as a State highway Patrol Auxiliary member, riding along with patrolmen from the Ashland and Wooster Posts. Ed was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany from 1951 to 1953.

He was a member of the Ashland Christian Church, VFW Post 5692 of Savannah, Harry Higgins Post 88 of the American Legion and the Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary. He enjoyed going out to eat with friends. Ed is survived by a son Brad Huber of Otto, S.C.; one grandson, nieces, Barbara Markel and Cindy (Stuart) Campbell, and Becky (Randy) Kiel; nephews, David (Judy) Neely, Bill Austin, Greg Engfer and Mark (Lisa) Engfer; a niece-in-law, Martha Pence; his caregiver, Chris Alt and many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gregory Huber in 1998, a brother, Ivan Wahl, sisters, Frances Neely, Mary Evajean Luteman and Ida May Engfer and his longtime companion Cynthia Faith Johnston in 2007 and nephews, Daniel Pence and Dean Austin. Funeral services will be held Monday January 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from the Ashland Christian Church with the Scot Myers, Minister, officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Nankin Cemetery.
