Obituary for Lillian Doloras Nicholson Print Lillian Doloras Nicholson, 87, of Siler City, NC, formerly of Shinnston, WV, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 6:08a.m. Lillian was born in Brady, WV, on May 11, 1931 to the late Charles Edward Hayes and Virginia Lenora Baber Hayes. She was the wife of the late John William Nicholson. Lillian worked in accounting, banking, and real estate, and was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Shinnston, WV.
She was also a member of Friends of the Chatham County Library in Pittsboro, NC. She loved to read, work on puzzles, work in her flower beds, and to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lillian is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Dorene Sanders and husband Albert of Siler City, NC, grandsons,John William Nicholson III and wife Leslie of Charlotte, NC, Charles Edward Nicholson II and wife Traci of Shinnston, WV, Mark McClenyon Sanders and wife Erica of Pittsboro, NC, Jason Harold Sanders and wife Ashley of New Hill, NC, her grandaughters Shawna Lynn Gill and husband Britt of Lillington, NC, Melinda Sue Frailey and husband Jody of Lillington, NC, Krystal Michelle Sanders of Chapel Hill, NC, nine great-grandsons; Nick Nicholson, John Ryan Nicholson, Aaron Nicholson, Noah Gill, Luke Frailey, Zachary Gill, Logan Sanders, Elijah Gill and Cohen Sanders, five great-grandaughters; Whitney Carpenter Boggess and husband Patrick, Kylee Frailey, Shelbie Gill, Kinley Sanders and Sylvie Sanders, one great-great grandaughter- Giada Boggess, and one daughter-in-law, Shirley Jean Nicholson.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, John William Nicholson II (Nick), her sister Eileen Freeman, and a brother-in-law, Bryan Freeman. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at the UNC Hospice House in Pittsboro, NC, for providing “Poochie” with outstanding care, comfort, and peace during her final days, and for the support and comfort that you brought to our family during this time. The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 11am until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 12:30pm, Saturday, January 26.
Interment will follow in the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Humane Society of Harrison County, 2450 Saltwell Road, Shinnston, WV 26431. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.
