Lloyd “Norman” Moore, 81, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2019, at Shawnee Christian Village, Herrin, Illinois. Lloyd was born on June 24, 1937, Murphysboro, Illinois, to Lloyd Franklin Moore and Beatrice Mae (Hobbs) Moore. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

serving during the Korean Conflict. Norman was a machinist with Caterpillar Tractor in Joliet for thirty two years. Mr. Moore attended the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge. When he was younger, he was an avid golfer and also a bowler. He also went to tournaments.

He enjoyed going on hunting trips. Norman is survived by one son and daughter in law Stephen “Steve” and Marianne Moore of Braceville, IL; a special friend Freida Malloy of Murphysboro; two grandchildren Amy (John) Torres and Heather Moore; five great grandchildren Katlynn Torres, John Torres, James West, Amber West, and Justin West; one sister Barbara Ann Gill of Tulsa, OK, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers Donald (Paulette) and Glendell Moore, one brother in law William Gill, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2019, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Shaker Samuel officiating and burial at Mt. Joy Cemetery, where military services will be conducted by the Paul Stout American Legion Post # 127 Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family would prefer memorials may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans. For more information, please visit www.
