Jo Ann Schirmer, 81, of rural Elkville, passed away at 1:18 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at home. Jo Ann was born October 15, 1936, in Elkville, IL, a daughter to the late Joe and Edelle (Crain) Coffer. She was united in marriage to Russell Schirmer in Vergennes, IL, on June 17, 1956.

Russell passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018. Jo Ann was a member of the Murphysboro United Methodist Church and was formerly employed by Pierce Brothers Motors in DuQuoin. She had also been employed as a bookkeeper for C.I.P.S.

Funeral services will coincide with her Husband Russell Schirmer and will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018, at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Burial will follow at Parrish Cemetery near Vergennes. Visitation for both Jo Ann and Russell will be on Thursday, July 19, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Crawshaw Funeral Home.

Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Residential Hospice or the Parrish Cemetery Association. Survivors include two daughters, Kelli Blaise of Murphysboro and Kimbra Schirmer; one sister, Wilma Westerfield of DeSoto, IL; and one brother, Oren Coffer of Vergennes; two grandchildren, Kailyn (Scott) Harmon and Ryan Blaise; and one great-grandchild, Warren Harmon. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
