Lonnie David Welch, 75, of Florence, SC passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019. Mr. Welch was born in Turbeville, SC a son of the late Columbus Lucius Welch and Rosa Bell Morris Welch. He was a member of the Bay Branch Free Will Baptist Church and retired after more than 20 years from the Florence Police Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 siblings and by one great-grandchild, Kalib Steven Koelling. Surviving are his wife, Karen Freeman Welch of Florence; daughters, Elizabeth Marie (Mike) Johnson; Debbie Lynn (George) Smith, and Angela Bell (Bruce) Richter; grandchildren, Brandon David Koelling, Becky Renee Brown, Brent Alan Koelling, Austin McKissick Smith, and Zachary Patrick Smith; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Bertha Coker, Bobbie Jean Cason, and Rosa Lee Driggers. Memorials may be made to the Florence Police Department, 324 West Evans Street, Florence, SC 29501.

The family will receive friends from 4 – 6 pm Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 26, 2019 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens.
