Loretta June Petit, 89, of Urbana went to be with her Lord and Savior at 1:28 a.m. on Monday, March 04, 2019 at her residence with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pastor David Ashby will officiate. An Eastern Star service will be held at 1:15 p.m. Per June’s wishes there will not be any graveside services. June was born in Ewing, IL on November 3, 1929 to parents Earl and Rose Alene (McDuffy) Harris.

They preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her son Scott A. Petit, one sister and two brothers. On July 3, 1970 June married Louis F. Petit, he passed away on September 26, 1974.

She was also married to Charles E. Hanshaw, he passed away on October 28, 1989. June is survived by her children; Louella A. Hanshaw-Bishop of Urbana, Loretta L. Thomas of Pagosa Springs, CO and Sona S. Smith (Dave) of West Palm Beach, FL. Five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchildren also survive her.

June was a graduate of Mansfield High School and worked as a Bookkeeper for Ed Campbell at the Ramada Inn. She also worked in Central Staffing for Burnham Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Savoy, the American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and the Eastern Stars.

June loved to crochet, sew and cross stitch. She also enjoyed bowling, traveling and going to the beach with her friends. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
