Lorraine Emilie Throldahl, age 88 of Rochester, formerly of Mankato and Le Sueur, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Homestead of Rochester surrounded by her loving family. Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16 at the Word of Life Lutheran Brethren Church in Le Sueur. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.

Interment will be in Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur. She was born on December 4, 1930 to John and Emma (Risto) Freitag in St. Clair, Minnesota. She was baptized at her home on December 29, 1930 and confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical Church in St. Clair on April 2, 1944.

She grew up on a farm three miles from St. Clair and had fond memories of her childhood, parents, and brother and sister. In 1949, she graduated from St. Clair High School and attended Mankato Commercial College studying bookkeeping and business operations. After graduation, she went to work for a record distribution company.

In 1951, she met her future husband, Tony, on a blind date. On September 13, 1953, she was united in marriage to Anton (Tony) Richard Throldahl in St. Clair. Lorraine worked at the National Bank of Commerce in Mankato, while Tony attended college.

Lorraine and Tony moved to Le Sueur in 1962 where they raised their family. After her children were grown, she worked for Telex and Pillsbury. She was active in her church and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School to the littlest children of the congregation.

She was a faithful member of small group Bible study for many years and was a founding member of Word of Life Church for over thirty years. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, sewing, needlepoint, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. Every Christmas, she filled her home with the aroma of fresh baked desserts.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Karen (Bill) McWaters of Rochester, MN, Susan (Ronald) Marks of Ramsey, MN, Judy (Keith) Lillquist of Muskego, WI, Eric (Velma) Throldahl of Rogers, MN, Amy (Shawn) Stroud of Salinas, CA, and David (Barbara) Throldahl of Plymouth, MN; sister, Elvera Hall; sister-in-law, Joan Freitag; brother-in-law, Bob (Delores) Throldahl; fifteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony; son, James Allen Throldahl; and brother, Ervin Freitag. Lorraine was a faithful servant in Christ.

In the face of adversity, Lorraine was known to quote one of her favorite Bible verses from the Psalms, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it”.
