Lucy Ann Straka, 96, passed away on April 23, 2018 at The Grand in Dublin, Ohio. Lucy Ann was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother with a focus on her children and their families. She was a faithful friend with many friendships cultivated over a lifetime of living in Fairview Park, Ohio prior to her move in her later years to Columbus.

She was a caregiver all of her life, working as a registered nurse and volunteering with the local PTA, Girl Scouts, and her church. She and her husband, Joe, travelled to Europe and Asia and spent the winter months for many years in Myrtle Beach, SC. Mostly, Lucy Ann valued the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchild, and her many friends.

Lucy Ann was born in DeGraff, Ohio on January 26, 1922, the oldest daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Moore) Wolfe. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dr. John Wolfe, and her husband, Joe Straka. On April 15, 1950 in DeGraff, Ohio, she married Joe Straka and they moved to Cleveland, Ohio where they lived for 62 years.

They had three children and she is survived by daughters, Mary Ann (Patrick) Straka Schrote, Seattle; Joann (Mark) Straka Rosenberg, Columbus, Ohio; son, James (Hilarie) Straka, Atlanta; grandchildren, Mallory (Matthew) Straka Cohen, Atlanta; Benjamin Rosenberg, Chicago; M. Sean Rosenberg, Columbus; Spencer Schrote and Rachel Schrote, Seattle; and one great-grandchild Collins Monroe Cohen, Atlanta. Also surviving is her niece Marilyn (Stan) DeMoor, Cleveland; and nephew John Winn Wolfe, Seattle; and their families. Lucy Ann attended Riverside High School, Denison University where she was an Alpha Xi Delta, and Huron Road Nursing School in Cleveland, Ohio.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and of John Knox Presbyterian Church, in North Olmstead, Ohio. Lucy Ann will be remembered as the heart of her family, instilling the love of family in her children. She loved to connect with people, was a devoted nurse and caregiver, and enjoyed golf, gardening, cooking, card games, music, and travel.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio. A life celebration is planned for 5:00 p.m. at La Scala Restaurant in Dublin, Ohio followed by refreshments. Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff.
