FULLERTON—Lynda Lea McCoig, 73, of Fullerton, died Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at her home with family by her side. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Fullerton Community Church in Fullerton with Reverend Vern Olson officiating. Burial will follow at Fullerton Cemetery in Fullerton.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 1st at the church. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family. Lynda was born December 19, 1945 in Hoquiam, Washington to Donald and Viola (Fulleton) Watters.

Her parents moved to a farm in rural Nance County in 1950 and then moved into Fullerton when she was in the third grade. She graduated from Fullerton High School in 1964. She married Dennis McCoig on December 11, 1965.

They spent the first year and half in Germany while Dennis served in the military. They returned to Nance County in 1967, where they began their family and farming operation. They retired and moved into Fullerton in 2012.

Lynda took an active role in her church by teaching Sunday School and serving on all the church boards throughout the years. She chaired the building committee when the First Presbyterian Church was built in 1993. Lynda was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Flower Belles, Piecin’ Pals Quilters Guild, and also served on several community boards.

Lynda loved tending her flower gardens, taking pictures, and became an avid quilter; winning ribbons at the state fair. She made many quilts for her family and was still working on projects at the time of her death. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dennis McCoig of Fullerton; children, Lorrie (Mike) Robinson of Genoa, Kristin (David) George of Spearfish, SD, and Scott (Jennifer) McCoig of Omaha; step-brothers, Robin (Ann) Johnson and Donald (Jennifer) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Sheryle Smith and Arlyce (John) Sellhorst; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Robert Johnson; sister, Carol Graves; sister-in-law, Joan Homolka; and brothers-in-law, Alfred Homolka and Claire Smith.
