Obituary for Macarthur Salyers Macarthur (Sunny) Salyers – Nickelsville, VA Macarthur (Sunny) Salyers, 71 Macarthur went to be with the Lord on Wednesday July 4th, 2018, surrounded by his wife and grandson at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Macarthur was born in Scott County, VA on October 12th, 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold Salyers and Faye Salyers Dooley, brothers Bill and Johnny Salyers, sisters Naomi Porter, Wilma Brashear, Della Bevins, Nell Dockery and infant siblings Harold and Carol.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law Juanita and Jack Combs. He attended Nickelsville Baptist Church as long as his health allowed. Mac was employed with Campbell Soup Company in Napoleon, Ohio for 40 years, where he was head chef.

After retirement he moved back to his home place. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, his animals, and spending time with his family. Mac attended Dungannon High School.

He is survived by the love of his life Jackie of 52 years. His daughters Jacqueline Hostettler (Brian), Kim Inbody (Dave), Machetta Porter (Steve) of Ohio, brother Chuck Salyers, sisters Leona Salyers, LoJean Schroeder, Judy Messer all of Ohio. Sisters and brothers-in-law Frieda Sluss, Frances and John Davidson, Myra and Lowell Hammonds.

6 grandchildren, Macarthur Inbody who was his special caregiver for years and whom he called son, Phillip and Bethany Inbody, Mikyla Garcia (Eric), Devin Hoge and Mackenzie Porter whom he always called his baby doll. 7 great-grandchildren Jayden, Jordyn, Jaxxon, Kolton Garcia, Gavin, Gunner, Noah Hoge. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday July 8th, 2018 at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday July 9th, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Collins, and Rev.

Walter Taylor. The Meade family will provide the music. Burial will follow in Donelson-Keith Cemetery, Nickelsville VA.

Pallbearers will be son-in-laws and grandsons. The family would like to thank Dr. DeMotts, home health, and the hospice staff for all their love and support. An online guest register is available for the Salyers family at www.
