Mae Ellen Schneider, 93, of Seymour, passed away at 8:40 pm on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at IU Health in Bloomington. She was born in October 1925, in Seymour, to the late Alf and Marie (Deppert) Snyder. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was baptized on October 22, 1925 and confirmed on April 2, 1939 by Rev.

Ernest Eggers. She had attended Immanuel Lutheran School and was a 1943 graduate of Shields High School. On April 23, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, she married George H. Schneider by Rev.

Victor A. Mack. In the spring of 1949, George and Mae Ellen partnered their love of the plant world and established Schneider Nursery. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April of 1999, a week before George’s passing.

She was a member of the Memorial Committee, Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid #1, Immanuel Lutheran LWML and attended Senior Ministry Group once a month. She attended Our Savior Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, Florida where she was a member of ‘The Bells’ and Altar Guild. She was a proud member of the Merry Widows.

Mae Ellen is survived by her children, Margie (Jed) Strange, Jeff (Debbie) Schneider, Grant (Cathy) Schneider and Anne (Kim) Prout; Gramma’s grandchildren, Kelly (Matthew) Snawder, Mark (Karen) Strange, Jill (Andy) Glover, Aaron (Leah) Strange, Dr. Jack Schneider, Katie Schneider (Smith), Mitch (Jamie) Prout, Nick Prout and Jenna Prout; Oma’s great-grandchildren, Madison Snawder, Alexa Snawder, Anderson Strange, Emma Prout, Drew Glover, Hannah Prout and Harper Strange; and 17 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband; great-granddaughter, Lily Snawder; siblings, Maxine Dawn (Bud) Taylor, Lois Jean (Leroy) Hageman, Vernon Wayne Snyder, Carol Ann Snyder, Donna Jane (Amos) Markel and Tom Neil Snyder. Mae Ellen’s undying love for her church, faith and family, as well as her sharp wit and amazing memory will be missed by all those who loved her.

Memorials may be written to Stained Glass Window Project at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lutheran Hour, Knox County CASA Blanket Bundles (112 N. 7th St., Vincennes, IN 47591) or Charity of Choice, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday, March 1 at 11 am with Revs. Ralph Blomenberg, Philip Bloch, Jimmy Rodriguez and Vicar Tyler Werner officiating.

Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Thursday from 2-8 pm and at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday from 10 am until time of service. Online condolences may be given on the funeral home website at www.
