Marcus M. Henry, age 74, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, February 15, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Erin Kaye officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Wednesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Military honors will be accorded by the Washington American Legion Post 29. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for Marr Park.

Online condolences may be sent for Marcus’s family through the web at www. jonesfh.com Marcus was born December 3, 1944, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Maurice and Faye (Varney) Henry. He attended school in Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1963.

Marcus was united in marriage to Diana Paustian on December 28, 1964, in Muscatine, Iowa. He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1963 until 1967. Marcus worked as a carpenter and was employed at the University of Iowa Hospitals for 26 years.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Country Travelers Camping Club. He is survived by his wife, Diana Henry of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Teresa Wojnoski and husband Ron of Fairfield, Connecticut; son, Marc Henry and wife Rhonda of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Lisa Kempf and husband Troy of Olds, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Allyson, Matthew and Michael Wojnoski; Alicia Mackey and husband Eric; Jared Henry, Justin Kempf; and Aaron Kempf and wife Jenna; and one great granddaughter, Kelsey Mackey.

Marcus is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Beverly Goodwin. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Marcus M. Henry please visit our Sympathy Store.
