Marcus R. Sutton (Mark) of Tucker, GA, passed away October 12, 2018, after a short illness. Mark was born in Lancaster, SC to Spurgeon (Spud) Sutton and Frank Sutton. He grew up with his older sister, Sue.

He graduated from Lancaster High School and Clemson College. He loved his Tigers. After graduation Mark served with the South Carolina Air National Guard.

He was a proud veteran who loved God and his country. On August 16, 1959 he and Sally Caskey were married. They were blessed with four children, Marcus Scott (Jennifer), Charles Martin (Marty), Matthew Henry (Hank) and Holly Sutton McDowell (Danny).

Mark adored his grandchildren, Zachary McDowell (Annie), Jacob McDowell (Casey), Sean Kelly, Erin Kelly and great granddaughter, Evelynn Bray. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Sutton Haigler, her 3 daughters, Carol Edington Ann Haigler, Susan Kirchner and their families, Sally’s sister, Susan Marshall (Gene) and their children, Terry Povey, Kevin Marshall, Kelly Fuller and their families. After graduation he worked for Abney Mills in Greenwood, SC and joined Chemstrand in that same town.

This company became Monsanto and then the family transferred to Tucker, GA. Mark retired after 35 years and truly enjoyed his life after work. He had a grand time with his family, playing tennis at Hebron Hills, and golfing with SGAA, activities at First Baptist Church, NTO, Adult A Sunday School class, our dear bridge club of 50 years and his buddies at the Healing Place at church.

Mark enjoyed life. He and Sally loved traveling, fishing, gardening, sports and photography. He was full of love and mischief.

He was a stickler about being prompt. He was devoted to Sally, his family and friends. He influenced so many lives and will be greatly missed.

Mark Sutton was a good man. Visitation will be at Tucker First Baptist Church at 2 and the celebration of his life will follow at 3. Please send memorial donations to Tucker First Baptist Church, 5073 LaVista Road, Tucker, GA 30084.
