Mickie Matheson Obituary Photo

Ms. Mickie Matheson, 84, entered her heavenly rest last week. Mickie was a petite, delightful soul who loved Jesus, family, church, gardening, dogs, cats, ice cream, and high heels. Other than a brief childhood adventure in California and two equally brief adult adventures in Colorado and Florida, Mickie was a lifelong Atlanta native, growing up in the historic Grant Park neighborhood and living in many areas around metro Atlanta in her adult years.

For many years she was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Duluth, where she served as a bookkeeper and receptionist. In recent years Mickie was a member of Christ Church Suwanee, where she earned the distinction of being the oldest member. Little Ms. Mickie was loved by everyone who knew her.

Her feisty personality and ready smile brightened her corner of the world and blessed anyone who ever met her. She was a true Steel Magnolia. Mickie is survived by her daughter Kathy Dietz (husband Michael), her grandsons John-Michael Dietz and Truett Dietz (wife Deanna and daughter Ellery), sister Ovie Hughie (daughter Pam and family), brother Kenneth Folds (wife Margie, daughter Jessica and family), friend and roommate Suzi Dietz, and a host of other extended family members, friends, and neighbors.

A memorial service for Ms. Mickie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6th, 2018, at Christ Church Suwanee, 3302 McGinnis Ferry Road, Suwanee, GA 30024. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Benevolence Fund at Christ Church Suwanee are welcome.
