Obituary for Margaret Jean Shaffer Margaret Jean (Ferry) Sherman Shaffer, 91, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2019. Jean was born on 12/05/1927 to Louis Angelo Ferry and Margaret Snivley Ferry. She is preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother; Betty Ramsay Ferry, former husband; Harold Sherman and her dear friend John H. Knight.

Jean is survived by her children; Steve (Chris) Sherman and Joyce (Chuck Cheeseman) Snyder, grandchildren; Shane (Kelly) Snyder, Tonya Sherman, Carly Sherman and TyAnn McKenzie, Great Grandchildren; Brittney Snyder and Brianna Saleh, brother; Jim (Penny) Ferry, sister; Jane (Bill) Apel and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Jean graduated from The Ohio State University in 1949. She was a Home Economics teacher for 35 years at Hamilton Local Schools and Gahanna Jefferson Schools.

She also tutored students. She was a member of the Epworth Methodist Church, sang with the Mother Singers and enjoyed her book club. Jean loved the sunshine, gardening, singing, reading, sewing, cooking and dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, Ohio on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 4 pm until 7 pm with a service to follow at 7pm with Pastor Leo Frailey officiating. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd. , Newark, Ohio, 43055, hospiceofcentralohio.org and The Alzheimer’s Association.
