Maria’s Obituary Maria entered into eternal rest on Saturday January 19th at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in the presence of her loving and caring family. She was 90 years of age. Born and raised in Naples, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Giovanni and Anna (Ruggiero) Bilardi.

She grew up in Italy during WW II. During the war years she was a hospital volunteer caring for wounded American GI’s. There she caught the eye of an American soldier, Albert Cardone.

They soon married and she came to Chelsea as one of the first American war-brides of the city. She learned english at Chelsea High School and immersed herself in her new community. Albert passed away in 1955 and as a young widow with two small she remarried 62 years ago to Lawrence D. Cardone.

Soon after bearing her third child. Devoted to home and family Maria also worked outside of her home for many years as a lens-glazier and assembler at American Optical in Chelsea. In her lifetime Maria enjoyed living “Dolce Vita” traveling to visit family in Italy, dinning out, home cooking and caring for family, baby-sitting and spending time with her 6 grandchildren and later welcoming 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Maria was also predeceased by 5 brothers at home in Italy. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Lawrence D. Cardone of Chelsea. She was the devoted mother of John A. Cardone of Chelsea, Rose Anne Musto and her husband Paul of Saugus, Lawrence M. Cardone and his wife Kathy of Chelsea.

Cherished grandmother of John Cardone and wife Melissa, Dr. Anthony Cardone DMD and wife Sheree, Stephen Polidoro and wife Jennifer, Lisa Pellegrino and husband Flavio, Paul Cardone and Maria A. Cardone. Adoring great-grandmother of Lilly and Aubrey Cardone, Stephen and Sophie Polidoro, Isabella, Nicholas and Gianna Pelligrino. She is also survived by her dear sister Assunta Bolizio of Naples, Italy.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are most kindly invited visit at the Welsh Funeral Home 718 Broadway Chelsea on Thursday January 24th from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Her funeral will begin from the Welsh Funeral Home on Thursday January 25th at 9:00 A.M. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St, Revere at 10:00 A.M. Services will conclude with Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett Funeral Home fully handicap accessible, ample parking opposite Funeral Home. DONATIONS: Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
