Charles Galatis January 17, 1949 – November 28, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Charles Galatis passed away on November 28 unexpectedly as a patient at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. He was 69 years of age. Born and raised in Chelsea he was a son of Nicholas K. and Susan R. (Garvin) Galatis of Gloucester.

Charles attended and graduated from Chelsea High School and continued his education at Newman Prep and Es Aggie. He worked briefly in banking and at local shipyards before pursuing his career as a self-employed Oil Burner Technician operating “Chucks Burner” for the past 25 years. Charles has been residing in Gloucester for the past 8 years and earlier he lived for many years on Cape Cod.

He was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed lively debates on politics and other current affairs. Charles was predeceased by his sister Lola Galatis. He is survived by three sons; Nicholas Galatis and his wife Rhonda of Christianburg VA, Charles Galatis, Jr. of Concord NH, Demetrios “Jim” Galatis and his fiancé Gladys of Fitchburg and one grandson, Charles Galatis III of Saugus.

He was the beloved son of Nicholas K. and Susan R. (Garvin) Galatis of Gloucester. Dear brother of Peter Galatis of Gloucester. Loving godson of Kay Murphy of Revere.

He is also survived by several aunts and uncles in MA and SC. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend a memorial gathering held from the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home 718 Broadway CHELSEA on Friday January 18th form 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Memorial Matins (orthodox prayer service) will begin at 11:00 AM. A private Inurnment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Funeral Home fully handicap accessible, ample parking opposite Funeral Home.
