Obituary for Marie Cox Marie Cox, 97, of Martinsville, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Blue Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville. She was born on November 19, 1920, in Bassett, Virginia, to the late Charles and Onie Sowder Stone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Cox; daughter, Brenda F. Helbert; sisters, Verna Stone and Rosebud Hylton; brothers, Leonard Stone and Charles H. Stone; grandsons, Charles Barton and Christopher Rutter.

Mrs. Cox was a member of Spring Street Baptist Church. She loved working in the garden, cooking for family and friends, and spending time with her cats. Mrs. Cox leaves behind her love and most precious memories to her daughters, Eunice P. Barton and Carline P. Rutter; son, Toney D. Souther; sisters, Grace Cahill and Mary Stone; brother, William H. Stone; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral for Mrs. Cox will be at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Nick McCorquodale officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
