Marie’s Obituary Marie T. Bond, 88, of Lansdale, PA, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late Warren L. Bond, a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II, who died on April 6, 2003. They were happily married for 30 years, a second marriage for both.

Born June 6, 1930, in Audubon, NJ, Marie was the daughter of the late Thomas P. and Cecilia A. (Sieck) Braddock and the stepdaughter of Madeline (Hizer) Braddock. Marie spent more than a decade working as a volunteer at Abington-Lansdale Hospital, both in the office and in the gift shop. Although she amassed almost 18,000 hours of service and was awarded many service pins and certificates, her true reward was the love and high regard she received from those who appreciated not only her dedication, but also her warm, caring nature and ready, welcoming smile.

An avid sports fan, Marie loved watching NASCAR and football on TV. Some of her other interests were viewing classic films, reading the newspaper and mystery novels, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting afghans to give as presents, listening to music, and, many years ago, playing the piano. Loving to be with people and helping others to the end of her life, she volunteered in the front office at Schwenkfeld Manor, where she lived for 10 years, and participated in various activities there with her many friends.

Marie attended Germantown High School in Philadelphia. Soon after graduation in 1948, she obtained a job as a medical secretary to a neurosurgeon, attending his procedures and transcribing the operative summaries from her shorthand notes. Over the years, she worked as an administrative assistant in a number of other offices, most importantly in a radiology practice until she “retired” to pursue her volunteer work after returning from a 10-year residence in Michigan with her husband, a Ford engineer.

The center of Marie’s world was her beloved family. She is survived by three children born during her first marriage to Robert C. Maus: Pamela M. Bond Contractor (Farok), Flemington, NJ; Wayne R. Maus (Anne), Quakertown, PA; and Vicki I. Erdreich (Howard), Richboro, PA. Her children gave her four grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Lindsay A. Psulkowski (Douglas) and son, Colin; Matthew P. Bond; Daniel E. Erdreich; and Jason T. Erdreich.

Marie also enjoyed a close relationship with two stepsons from her second marriage to Warren: Bruce R. Bond, Pace, FL, and Phillip D. Bond (Noelle), Philadelphia, PA, who gave her additional grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Brooke D. Maxwell (Brandon) and daughter, Rylee, and son, Brandon; Sean M. Bond (Sasha) and son, Archie; and Conor J. Bond. Marie also dearly loved her children’s pets and was a devoted animal advocate. Marie was preceded in death by her two sisters, Cecilia M. Braddock and Mary R. Class.

The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave, Lansdale, PA 19446. A brief service celebrating Marie’s life will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment is private.

The family respectfully requests no flowers. Contributions in her name may be made to Marie’s chosen charity, the Humane Society of the United States . Alternatively, donations may be made to the American Heart Association .
