Marie Jameison, devoted wife and mother, passed away on September 22nd, 2018, at the age of 87. She was surrounded by loving family during her final days at the ArchCare at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, New York. Marie was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on August 25th, 1931, to Joseph Vinci and Rosalie (Longo) Vinci and was raised in Peekskill, New York.

She meant so much to all of us privilege to call her Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and to the many simply as Marie or Mrs. Jameison. Marie earned a master’s degree in nursing from Yale University and held positions at Grasslands Hospital where she was the Charge Nurse and Head Nurse as assigned for many years. It was at Grasslands Hospital she met her husband, Dr. William Jameison.

Marie and Bill had four children, three boys and finally a beautiful girl, Jessica, with Downs Syndrome. Marie traveled tirelessly to Special Olympics events throughout NY State, cheering on Jessica and all the Olympians to “Go for the Gold! ” Marie became a fierce advocate for Jessie, and later in life helped to give voice to the children at The Astor Home in Rhinebeck as a parents advocate.

Marie insisted that all children must be represented by a responsible adult in the absence of their family. She was honored with a service award by NY State for her dedication to these children. To know Marie, all you need to know is that she was a fabulous cook and loved her family.

Dinner at the Jameison’s was always a hit with friends and neighbors. She was the matriarch of our Manor Road family. She looked after everyone.

She was wonderful at being the family compass. She was our north star. Our fondest memories are of Saturday and Sunday feasts that were truly celebrations of family and friends.

Marie was predeceased by her husband, Bill, her daughter, Jessica, her parents; Joseph and Rosalie Vinci, her brothers Mathew (Rose) Vinci and Joe (Jane) Vinci. Marie is survived by her three sons and their families, Gerald (Shari) Jameison of Rhinebeck, New York, Robert (Kris) Jameison of Gambier, Ohio, and William H. (Alexandria) Jameison Jr. of Red Hook, New York, three grandchildren (Alexander, Nicholas, and Andrew) and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck, on Friday October 12, 2018, from 10 am to 11 am.

Funeral service will follow immediately at 11:15 pm.
