Marliyn C. Tackaberry (nee Wilson) 88, of Allendale, NJ. It is with deep sadness that the family of Marilyn C. Tackaberry announces her passing at her home on July 7, 2018. Marilyn was born in Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY on April 13, 1930 to Beatrice Boardman and George Wilson and raised by George and her stepmother Harriet.

They moved to Allendale when Marilyn was very young. She is predeceased by her parents, husband John, daughter Kim (2018), son-in-law Robert (2018), brother Stuart, sister Joan and grandson Jeffrey. Marilyn married her true love John Paul Tackaberry in 1953.

They raised their three children, Lynn, Jeff and Kim and in Allendale where Marilyn lived out her life. Marilyn graduated from Hackensack School of Nursing. She was one of the first nurses to open the doors of Valley Hospital when it was a very small town hospital.

The majority of her life was committed to caring for others. She was extremely proud to be a nurse and gave selflessly to countless others. This is what truly brought her joy.

She worked as a nurse on the floor and in the operating room. She would eventually go on to care for Seniors at the Allendale Nursing Home. She was a strong, independent woman who always spoke what was on her mind.

She also helped anyone who was in need (and this was done very quietly behind the scenes). She had an unconditional love of animals. She is survived by her beloved daughter Lynn Tackaberry-Krimmert, son Jeff Tackaberry and his wife Donna and their children and grandchildren, grandson Christopher Tackaberry, along with countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marilyn invested her time in her many lifelong friendships. She had a great respect for history and was an original member of the group that worked to save the John Fell House in Allendale from development so that future generations could learn from the history around it. Marilyn will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on September 28, 2018 at 10 AM at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Allendale. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mahwah Center for Food Action in Mahwah would be appreciated. Please sign the online guestbook and share your memories of Marilyn on this memorial.
