Marjorie Richardson, 85, of Macon, Missouri, and formerly of Carterville, passed away at Samaritan Hospital in Macon, Missouri, on April 27, 2018. Marjorie was born in Carbondale, on March 7, 1933, to John and Lillian (Vancil) Manis. She was united in marriage to Frank Eugene Richardson in Cambria, on September 10, 1950.

They moved to Moberly in 1963, where Frank worked for the railroad until retirement. After her children were grown, Marjorie fulfilled a lifetime dream of baking and decorating cakes. She attended a class in cake decorating at Moberly Junior College and soon began blessing others with her artistic and tasty creations.

She made small birthday cakes for widows and widowers in her church. Margie would also bake and decorate wedding cakes for anyone who asked her, asking only to be paid for the cost of the ingredients and decorations. She offered her talent free as a wedding gift.

She loved children and babysat for many through the years. They often became like part of her own family and if given the choice, would sometimes prefer to stay with “Grandma Margie” rather than go home. Margie was a “champion Scrabble” player who was known to play two or three times a day.

She will be remembered for her smile, her kindness to others, and for always saying thank you. Margie was a member of the Union Avenue Christian Church in Moberly for over fifty years. Those preceding her in death are her parents; three brothers, Raymond, Glenn Allen and James Manis.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Richardson of Macon; children, Nina (Mike) Roberts of Morrison, Colorado, Stanley (Mary Helen) Richardson of Galt, Missouri, Lisa (Darwin) Reis of Ames, Iowa, Jake (Kim) Richardson of Orlando, Florida, Sara (Malcolm) Spencer of Hamilton, Ohio; eighteen grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; brothers John L. Manis of Makanda, Clifford “Gene” (Nancy) Manis of Carbondale, Gerald “Jerry” (Alice) Manis of Carterville; plus extended family and many friends. Services for Margie will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 until time of service.

Interment and graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 6, 2018, in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to Timberlake Christian Church, 1624 Gratz Brown, Moberly, MO 65270 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 2400 Bluff Creek Drive, Columbia, MO 65201. Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements.
