Obituary for Marlene June Campbell Marlene June (Sanner) Campbell, 86, of Wapakoneta, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at The Wapak Manor. She was born January 15, 1932, in Lima, the daughter of Harry and Twylah (Dreski) Sanner, who proceeded her in death. On August 26, 1950, she married Duane E. Campbell, her high school sweetheart, who proceeded her in death, January 3, 2018.

Marlene is survived by 2 children, DaNeen (Michael) Bryan, Wapakoneta, and Mitchell Campbell, Celina, OH: 5 grandchildren, Josh (Erin) Hemmert, Heather (Douglas) Dearinger, John Paul Campbell, Sarah Campbell, and June Campbell, 7 great grandchildren, and brother-in-law, Winston Campbell, Marion, OH. In addition to her husband and parents, she was proceeded in death by a brother, Ronald Sanner, and two sisters, Donna Jean Thompson and Barbara Miller. Marlene attended Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.

She enjoyed a range of interests and positions, starting with working for Cornell Universities Extension Services as a Master Bridge instructor. She was a Certified Medical Research Librarian, upon moving to Wapakoneta, she managed Dr. Clyde Berry’s medical practice, serving Auglaize County for 7 years as director of the American Cancer Society. Marlene accompanied her husband to Brazil for his work and she became involved with the American Citizens Abroad (ACA, Inc.) working as an advocate, helping members with living and working overseas issues.

Upon returning to Wapakoneta, Marlene and Duane opened Hometown Antiques Shop, which was a culmination of her lifelong hobby of collecting antiques. She was a respected antique appraiser in the community of vintage glass, crystal and china collecting. Marlene held several officers’ positions with various clubs in association with her interests, including golfing, sailing, boating, skiing, and painting.

Marlene was Duane’s soul mate, enjoying 67 years of marriage, with the best years of their retirement living in Frostproof, FL. Marlene’s family will celebrate her life with a private family luncheon. Contributions may be directed to St. Rita’s Hospice.
