Obituary for William J. “Bill” Koenig William J. “Bill” Koenig, 81, of Wapakoneta, died 9:30 a.m., Tues. June 12, 2018, at his home. He was born Nov.
30, 1936, in St. Marys, OH, the son of William E. & Mary M. (Theis) Koenig, who preceded him in death. On April 23, 1960, he married Mary Jean Hines, and she survives. Other survivors include, 4 sons, William J. (Karen) Koenig, Jr., McHenry, IL; Eric (Sonia) Koenig, Lake Orion, MI; Kurt Koenig, Holly, MI; Trent Koenig & Lori; Waterford, MI; 5 grandchildren, Brett, Kyle, Joe, Lauren, & Logan Koenig, a great grandson, Lucas Matthew Koenig, siblings, Mary Alice White, Fred (Shirley) Koenig, Melanie (Rick) Morey, Marcie Dubois, sister-in-law, Ruth Koenig, many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Myra Weber, and a brother Ken Koenig. Bill was a 1955 graduate of St. Joseph High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1956- 1960. He began his career with National Seal, Van Wert, OH, as a data processing manager.
He then worked with Federal Mogul, Southfield, MI, as manager of the Bearing Group. He also worked at N.T.N. Bower, Birmingham, MI, as M.I.S. Director. He retired in 1991, and moved back to Wapakoneta in 1994.
Bill was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. His other memberships included the V.F.W. Post #8445, Amvets Post #333, the American Legion Post #330, and the K of C, Council #1272, all of Wapakoneta. Bill was a quiet & private person.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed doing the daily Sudoku puzzle. He also enjoyed visiting the local clubs and spending time with his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Mon.
June 18, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, with Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445.
The family will receive friends 2-5 p.m., Sun. at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, 1102 Lincoln Ave. (St. Rt.
