Obituary for Mary Ann Mahoney Wittwer Mary Ann C. Mahoney Wittwer, 83, of Wapakoneta, died 11:23 p.m., Mon. Sept. 24, 2018, at her home with her family at her side.

She was born Jan. 16, 1935, in Lima, the daughter of Frank & Leona (Hellman) Metzger, who preceded her in death. On Nov.

3, 1956, she married Raymond G. Mahoney, and he died Aug. 5, 1987. Then on July 9, 2005, she married Donald R. Wittwer, and he survives.

Other survivors include, 5 children, Diana L. Blackburn, Wapakoneta; Debra M. Hume, Wapakoneta; Kathleen A. (Daniel) Umphress, Yardley, PA; Gregory S. (Tammy) Mahoney, Wapakoneta; Jeffrey B. (Emilia) Mahoney, Gahanna, OH; 4 step-children, Anita (James) Penhorwood, Dean (Patricia) Wittwer, Donna (Jan Castanza) Wittwer, & Michael (Maria) Wittwer, grandchildren, Ryan G. (Kim) Place, Dana R. (Kevin) Ridenour, Jacob T. (Alesia) Hume, Joshua M.(Nikki) Mahoney, Kasey M. (Sam Follin) Hume, Jessica L. (Eric) Schroeder, Andrew H. (Sophia) Umphress, Raymond W. (Ashley) Blackburn, Emily A. Umphress, Zachary S. Mahoney, Isabella C. Mahoney, & Audrey L. Mahoney. 17 great grandchildren, several step-grandchildren & step- great grandchildren, 2 international children, Christoph and Marlene Sommer, siblings, Madonna Strominger, Fenton, MI; Eugene Metzger, Ft. Jennings; Paul (Dorothy) Metzger, Delphos; Gerald (Merlene) Metzger, Ft.

Jennings; David (Marilyn) Metzger, Ft. Jennings, a sister-in-law, Margaret (William) McKenna and a brother-in-law, C. Dale DeVoe, Punta Gorda, FL. She was preceded in death by 2 siblings, Arnold Metzger, and Irene Uhlenhake.

Mary Ann worked as a registered nurse with St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, and then from 1970 to 1994, she managed the Lima News agency in Wapakoneta. She was a graduate of Ft. Jennings High School, and the St. Rita’s School of Nursing.

Mary Ann was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. And a member of the Sister Cities program. She hosted many foreign exchange students in her home.

She was an accomplished quilter, enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, and gardening. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Sat. Sept.

29, 2018, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, with Rev. Jarred Kohn officiating. Burial is to follow in the Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.

The family will receive family and friends 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Fri. Sept. 28, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, 1102 Lincoln Ave.
