Obituary for Richard J. Olds Richard J. Olds, 77, of Wapakoneta, Passed away 3:30 p.m., Sat. Sept. 1, 2018, at his home.
He was born Jan. 31, 1941, in Lakewood, OH, the son of Emil S. & Anna (Petrick) Olds, who preceded him in death. On June 4, 1966, he married Sharon D. Katterhenry, and she survives.
Other survivors include, 4 sons, Todd (Sheila) Olds, Huntersville, NC, Andrew (Sandrine) Olds, Pine Creek, Montana, Randall (Richelle) Olds, Thornville, OH< & Christopher (Susan Deerr) Olds, Columbsu, OH, 6 grandchildren, Tara, Lilly, Raymond, Eric, Evan, & Ella, 2 brothers, Donald (Barbara) Olds, Hilliard, OH, & William (Tommie) Olds, Palm Springs, CA, numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Richard worked as an industrial engineer. He worked at several companies, and retired from Industrial Fabricators, Westerville, OH.
He was a 1959 graduate of Lakewood High School, and received a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1967 from Ohio University. Dick was an Explorer Scout, and served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. He then served as a master sergeant in the U. S. Air Force Reserve from 1980 to 1998, stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and served as a church organist for over 50 years. He loved cars, flying, and traveling. Dick was a licensed pilot, and a member of the Civil Air Patrol, the Aircraft Owners & Pilot Assn.
, the Experimental Aircraft Owners Assn. , and the Singing Buckeyes Barbershop Group. He also taught auto-cad at Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical School.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Sat. Sept. 8, 2018, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 100 Noe Bixby Rd.
, Columbus, OH, 43213, with Reverend Dr. George T. Zoebl officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will be 4:00 p.m., Sat. Sept.
8, 2018, at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military will be conducted. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m., until time of service, Sat. at the church.
