Obituary for Barbara L. Tester Barbara L. Tester, 90, of Wapakoneta, died 2:30 p.m., Wed. Sept. 12, 2018, at The Gardens, Wapakoneta.

She was born July 23, 1928, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of Ellwood A. & Harriett E. “Betty” (Blume) Chesbrough. On Dec. 24, 1950, she married Alfred “Al” Tester, and he survives.

Other survivors include, 2 sons, Steven Tester, Toledo, OH, David (Trina) Tester, Hamilton, OH, 2 grandsons, Scott (Jennifer) Tester, Seattle, WA, Matthew (Lauren) Tester, Liberty Twp. , OH, 2 great grandsons, Nolan & Beckett Tester, Liberty Twp. , OH.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Laurene Chesbrough, and a brother, Dennis Chesbrough. Barbara graduated from The Ohio State University in 1950 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. She taught many years at St. Joseph High School, Wapakoneta.

She later went back to school and obtained a degree in elementary education. She taught second grade at Centennial Elementary and then fourth grade at Northridge Elementary and retired at age 65. For several years after retirement, Barbara volunteered at Cridersville Elementary where her son, David, was principal.

She joined the Wapakoneta YMCA and went faithfully 3 times a week for more than 20 years. She loved going out to eat with her friends, and going to the library, as she was an avid reader. She was a loyal fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds, watching or listening to nearly every game.

Barbara loved her family. There was nothing she liked more than having them all around her, playing games and laughing with them. Her 2 grandsons grew up in Wapakoneta, so she was able to see them frequently as they grew.

Barbara, along with her husband Al, enjoyed attending the grandsons’ athletic events. The family would like to thank long time caregiver, Donna Baker, and the staff at The Gardens for the loving care Barbara received. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Mon.

Sept. 17, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, with Rev. Sean Wilson officiating.

Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends 2-6 p.m., Sun. Sept.

16, 2018, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, 1102 Lincoln Ave. , (St. Rt. 501), Wapakoneta.
