Maron Eugene “Gene” Lee June 06, 1923 – February 19, 2019 Share this obituary Upload Photo| View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Maron Eugene “Gene” Lee, 95 of Warsaw, Missouri sadly passed away February 19, 2019. Gene was born June 6, 1923 at Newport, Rhode Island. His father was in the Navy and so went to school, moving and living various places in the United States, graduating from high School in San Diego.

Gene was drafted into the Army for World War II and served overseas in an anti-aircraft/radar unit in New Guinea and then as a guard for Japanese POW’s in the Philippines. Upon discharge he attended Woodbury College in Los Angeles and San Diego graduating with a BA in Business Administration. After the war he returned to San Diego where settled, meeting and marrying the love of his life, Ilona Jean Likins.

There, they lived for the next 60 years until her passing in 2005. The following year he moved to Warsaw, Missouri to be near to his brother, Charles, and his family. He enjoyed 13 happy years in a quiet retirement community, allowing him to live independently and continuing driving his blue Rav4 and lime green Mustang convertible, even after turning 94.

Gene worked for various companies after college starting at Sears, moving to General Dynamics in the 60’s where he became a Purchasing Agent “Buyer” on the Atlas missile program sending the Mercury Astronauts into space. When General Dynamics got out of the space program he moved to Solar Turbines as a Buyer, retiring in 1985. He is survived by his three children Bill, David and Debi and their spouses Valerie, Heidi and Martin.

From them he was blessed with four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, always having a smile and a joke for everyone.
