Marvin Hoyce Golden, age 78, went to be with the love of his life on Friday, March 22, 2019. In February of 1960 he married Floy Jean Davis. They were married 54 years until her death on December 9, 2014.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Hoyce Golden and Pearl Garner Golden; and his brother and sister-in-law, Doyce and Kay Golden. Marvin worked at the Amity sawmills, then General Marine Boats where he learned to build and design flat bottom aluminum boats. Using these skills, he helped make Alumacraft Boats one of the success stories in Clark County in the 1980s.

He worked in the boating industry designing boats, building and selling several boat plants for the rest of his working career. Marvin loved the Caddo River, hunting, fishing and anything to do with the outdoors. He is survived by his children, Marvin Wayne (Nancy) Golden and Rebecca Jean Golden; his grandchildren, Brandi (T.J.) Strickland, Callie (Dale) Griffis, and Fred Golden; his great-grandchildren, Gavin Graves, Trenton Griffis, Lenora Strickland and Lora Lee Strickland; and his siblings, Wanda Carter, Jim (Terri) Golden, and Vicki (David) Egleston.

Marvin and Jean loved kids, their nieces and nephews, and any who wandered into their lives were immediately given a place in their family and hearts: Cathy Manning, Lisa Gray, Larry Carter, Kitty Wise, Tisha Bardwell Long, Marty Bardwell, Candace Russel, Jeremy “Buster” Jones, Crystal Franklin Smith, Shane Davis, Heather and B.J. Bankhead, Jennifer Carter, Charles Egleston, Christina Carlson, Vanessa Buck Bateman, Zackary Buck, Morgan and Kendall Golden, D.J. Weeks, Gibson and Holt Russel. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 30, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. John McAnally and Bro.

Tony Strickland officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Alpine Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Alpine Fire and Rescue personnel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alpine Cemetery Association, 117 Alpine Road, Amity, Arkansas, 71921, or to the American Cancer Society. Guest registry is at www.
