Joseph “Opa” Chunn, age 72, of Hot Springs, died Tuesday, March 19, 2019. He was born on March 4, 1947, in Smackover, the son of James Chunn and Dortha Maner Chunn. On March 10, 1974, he married Vera “Oma” Papincak Chunn, who preceded him in death on September 13, 2017.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ricky Chunn; and one cousin, Paul Chunn. Joe worked for 32 years for the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center and 10 years for the Lake Hamilton School District. He enjoyed collecting Native American artifacts and making jewelry.

Joe was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Patty Chunn and her fiancée, Tony Burkes of Royal; and two grandsons, Gage Maloy of Hot Springs and Shelby Jones of Bismarck. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
