Bro. Dale Crawford, age 74, of Athens, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019. He was born on December 8, 1943 in Pickens, Oklahoma, the son of Virgil Odis Crawford and Lillie Corley Crawford.

On August 21, 1964, he was married to the love of his life, Carolyn Toliver Crawford who preceded him in death on January 18, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters. Bro.

Dale was a cabinet maker by trade, but his heart and true calling were to his ministry. He served as pastor of the Athens Holiness Church for over twenty years, as well as the Tallassee Holiness Church in Tallassee, Alabama and the Old Center Church in Central, Arkansas. During his years at Tallassee Holiness Church, he continued to work building cabinets in Tulsa, Oklahoma and on the weekends, it was an 800-mile trip to church, one way.

He and his family made the trip every weekend for two years and every other weekend for another two years. When you needed to take advantage of the times you stopped for gas, you had best be in the car when the tank was full. Along with his ministry, Bro.

Dale was an accomplished guitarist. He also served his country in the United States Army. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Sonya and Rob Henegar of Athens, Duane and Tammy Crawford of Umpire and Brett and Andrea Crawford of Morrow; nine grandchildren, Levi Henegar and his fiancé, Jessica Headley, Cody Henegar, Natalie Henegar, Savannah Henegar, Breanna Harkleroad and her husband, Preston, Aubrey Crawford, Lauren Crawford, Jordan Crawford and Austin Crawford; his great-grandson, Samuel Harkleroad; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Nancy Crawford of Inola, Oklahoma; his sister, Edith Roberts of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; and his nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 19, 2019, in the Athens Holiness Church with Bro. David Harrison, Bro. Darrell Toliver and Bro.

Brett Crawford officiating. Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the church. Interment will be in Athens Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Pallbearers will be Levi Henegar, Cody Henegar, Jordan Crawford, Austin Crawford, Preston Harkleroad and Kolton Lockard. Guest registry is at www. davis-smith.com.
