Mary’s Obituary Mary Catherine Spangler, 95, of Hagerstown, passed away, Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Doey’s House in Hagerstown. Born February 23, 1924 in Hancock, Md. she was the daughter of the late, Ernest James and Louise Lillian (Barnhart) Mort.

In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward V. Spangler in 1983 and one sister, Clarice Einbinder. Mrs. Spangler was a 1943 graduate of Clear Spring High School. In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker she retired in 1987 from Harper & Row Publishers, Hagerstown.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown. Mrs. Spangler is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Louise “Cindy” Stoner and husband, Earl of Hagerstown; one sister, Janice L. Liles of La Mesa, Calf. ; two grandchildren, Earl E. Stoner and Janelle A. Stoner; seven great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. , Hagerstown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mary Catherine’s name to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville,Rd.

, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or to Hospice of Washington County (Doey’s House) 747 Northern Ave. , Hagerstown, MD 21742. Rest Haven Funeral Home, Hagerstown is assisting the family with the arrangements.
