Mary Eugenia (Beert) Eichten died Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Parmly on the Lake in Chisago City at the age of 98. She was born to Remi and Helena (DeCap) Beert on September 12, 1919, in Redwood County, MN. She grew up on a farm near Revere, MN, and attended school in Revere and Lamberton.

She married Everett Eichten on January 6, 1940, and they settled near Wanda, MN, where they rented a farm. They operated a dairy farm, raised row crops and ultimately a family of 16 children.

After Everett passed away in 2007, Mary stayed on the farm, tending her flowers and vegetable garden and passing on her knowledge of food preservation to her children. She had been living at home on the farm until the week before her death. She is survived by her children, Lois Velaski (Gene) of Bloomington, MN; Sr. Bea of Little Falls, MN; Rita Garvey of Clearwater, FL; Phillip (Sharon) of San Diego, CA; Pauline of St. Paul; Shirley Albrecht (Bob) of Sedona, AZ; Paul (Paula) of Dell Rapids, SD; Linda Richardson (Bill) of Poway, CA; Susan Frykman (Louie) of Maple Grove, MN; Douglas (Joye) of Granton, WI; Audrey Huettl (Mark) of Yuma, AZ; Patrick (Nancy) of Lindstrom; and Terry (Angie) of Minneapolis, MN; 32 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Betty Hullopeter and Frank Beert; and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; daughter Monica and sons Peter and Daniel; and siblings, Alphonse Beert, Alice Miller, Julia Springer, Carl Beert, Clara Schilling and Jean Stepan. A private interment will take place at a later date.
