Obituary for Mary Jane Rodgers Mary Jane Rodgers age 92, of Zumbrota died on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the Zumbrota Health Services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Paul in Zumbrota with Fr. Randal Kasel officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home – Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Monday for one hour prior to the mass at the church. Mary Jane LaPlante was born on April 30, 1926 in Chatfield, MN to Walter and Hazel (Allen) LaPlante.

She grew up in rural Chatfield and attended country school. In 1943 she graduated from Chatfield High School. On July 29, 1943 she married John “Jack” Rodgers in Chatfield.

Together they started farming. Jack entered the U.S. Army during WW II and Jane remained in Chatfield. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Chatfield and they resumed farming.

In 1950 they moved their family to Glenville, MN and in 1966 they moved to Zumbrota. For twenty plus years, Jane managed Jane’s Kitchen at the Zumbrota Livestock Auction Market. Jane was an active member of the Church of St. Paul, past president of the American Legion Post #588 Auxiliary in Mazeppa and a member of the Catholic Daughters.

In her free time she enjoyed baking, writing in her journal and entertaining her family on their Sunday gatherings. Jane is survived by her children, Janet (Al) Grossbach of Mazeppa, Bill (Coni) Rodgers of Red Wing, Dan (Joann) Rodgers of Zumbrota, Cindy Priem of Rochester, Susan (Bruce) Finnesgard of Zumbrota and Randy Rodgers of Rochester; sixteen grandchildren; thirty five great-grandchildren; brothers, Fr. Joseph LaPlante of Wabasha and Jerry (Maureen) LaPlante of Chatfield; sister, Kay Gadient of Goodhue and brother-in-law, Norman Rodgers of Winterset, IA.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents, Walter and Hazel; brother, Walter “Bud” LaPlante; son, Tom Rodgers; grandsons, Chris, Timothy and Steve and son-in-law, Earl “Butch” Priem.
