Obituary for Mary Jane Wehling Mary Jane Wehling, 89, of Edwardsville, died at 11 :00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20 at Eden Village in Glen Carbon, comforted in her final hours by her daughters Cindy Fuehne and Kathy Cimarolli, sons Jeff and Steve Wehling and other family members. A lifelong resident of the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon area, Mary Jane was born on March 11, 1929 in Glen Carbon, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Sordella) Thomas. She married Robert J. Wehling, her husband of 67 years, on February 19, 1949 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville; Mr. Wehling passed away on March 22, 2016.

In addition to Cindy, Jeff, Steve and Kathy, Mary Jane is survived by daughters-in-law Peggy and Kathy Wehling, sons-in-law Jerry Fuehne and Steve Cimarolli, grandchildren Kristin (Stephen) DeVasto, Kyle Fuehne, Michael Fuehne, Emily Wehling, Allison (Josh) Ferry, Cole Cimarolli and Abby Cimarolli, and two great-grandsons, Dylan DeVasto and Lucas Ferry. In addition to her husband and parents, she was proceeded in death by sisters and brothers-in-laws Peggy and Bud Mann, Shirley and Kelly Dutko and Beverly and Larry Wheeler, a brother, John (Dusty) Thomas, Jr., and two sisters who died in infancy. She was also proceeded in death by a special aunt and uncle, Katherine and Frank Hoffman.

Mary Jane was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Edwardsville, was a member of the St. Mary’s Ladies Guild, and a member of the Daughters of Isabella, O’Reilly Circle, for more than 60 years. Mary Jane was troop leader and den mother with the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts, and volunteered as a kindergarten aid at St. Mary’s Catholic School.

Before starting her family, Mary Jane was employed at Shell Oil Company and the Madison County Recorder’s Office. She graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1947. Mary Jane took great pleasure in the company of her family, particularly time spent babysitting her grandchildren, which frequently included walks to Leclaire Lake.

She loved decorating for holidays and wearing particularly unattractive, holiday-themed sweaters and sweatshirts. Mary Jane’s family would like to thank the staff at Eden Village for the quality, compassionate care they provided their mother during her lengthy stay at the long-term care facility. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon with Fr. Dan Bergbower officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville.
