Obituary for Betty M. Schmidt Betty M. Schmidt, age 89, of Edwardsville, Illinois died at 12:10 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2018, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. Betty retired after 22 years from Edwardsville School District #7 and she also worked for the Illinois Power Company. She was born August 20, 1928 in Edwardsville, the daughter of the late Victor J. & Esther C. (Lueker) Mueller.

Betty married Paul E. Schmidt on May 14, 1949, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville. Paul preceded her in death on February 23, 2013. Betty is survived by 2 sons, Terry L. Schmidt & his wife Ann of St. Louis, Missouri and Thomas L. Schmidt & his wife Deb of Lafayette, Indiana; 1 daughter Tracey B. Fleming & husband Dennis of Edwardsville; 8 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Tim) Leinberger, Andrew (wife Neka), Benjamin, Zachary, and Lucas (wife Celeste) Schmidt, Tricia, John, and Joseph Fleming; 6 great grandchildren, Terrion Mills, Emma, Claire, & Lily Leinberger, Natallie & Nathan Fleming; 1 brother, Richard V. Mueller & wife Rosemary of Edwardsville, sister in law Boots Knispel-Schmidt and many nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her brother-in-law, Robert Schmidt and sister-in-law, Margaret Schmidt. Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Ladies Aid Society, Missionary League and Braille Society. She was a former member of the Trinity Church Choir, Altar Guild and a Sunday School Teacher.

She was a Board Member of the Edwardsville Lumber Company and Trinity Lutheran Church Senior Sages. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev.

John Shank officiating. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran School To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Betty M. Schmidt please visit our Sympathy Store.
