Obituary for Mary Lois Rellergert Mary Lois Rellergert, born as Thelma Lois Chafin, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Lutheran Home. She was born August 6, 1937 in Mansfield, Ohio to Mary Frances Sanders and Leon Hulett Chafin, and was the step-daughter of J.W. Gerhardt. She and Herbert Rellergert were married May 24, 1958 at St. Joseph Church in Apple Creek, Missouri, and had six children.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral. Survivors include sons: Andrew Rellergert of St. Louis, Eric (Kyle Owens) Rellergert of Cape Girardeau and Kevin (Melissa) Rellergert of Imperial, Missouri; daughters Julie Freeman, Marise Compass and Melanie (Tim) Beard, all of Cape Girardeau; brother, Robert Leon (Maria) Chafin of Homestead, Florida; sisters-in-law, Helen (Bob) Stroder of Cape Girardeau; Betty Rellergert of St. Louis and Marilyn Rellergert of Jackson; grandchildren, Christopher Rellergert, Brittany Beard, Erica Beard, Brennan Beard, Courtney Rellergert, Nathan Rellergert, Stephen Rellergert and Joshua Marshall. Mary enjoyed many things in life.

She loved tennis, curling, figure skating, horses, birds, playing games (especially poker), music, St. Louis Blues hockey and Kansas City Chiefs football. She was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals except when they were playing the Kansas City Royals. We would like to thank everyone at St. Mary Cathedral, St. Francis Medical Center, Eye Care Specialists, The Lutheran Home, and Crown Hospice for all their loving care.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Memorial service follows at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Victor Anokwute officiating.
