Obituary for Mary Louise (Schubert) (Sturm) Murphy GREENFIELD – Mary Louise (Schubert) (Sturm) Murphy passed from life to join her Heavenly Father the afternoon of May 20, 2018. After a battle with ovarian cancer, Mary Louise surrendered her fight and peacefully met her Lord surrounded and supported by her loving family and friends. Born February 6, 1932 in Indianapolis, IN, Mary Louise was the oldest of 11 children.

She became a mother to 8 children of her own, and soon became a very special grandmother to many. She was so very loved by all her family and will be deeply missed. An active member of Park Chapel of Greenfield, IN, Mary Louise touched many lives; bringing countless people to Jesus through her unwavering faith and passion for the Lord.

She graduated from St. John’s Academy in 1950 as class valedictorian. After graduation she was in the work force until she married Hollis Sturm. She began work as a cashier in 1973 for Hancock Memorial Hospital.

In 1987 she began working as a receptionist and bookkeeper for Dr. Ronald S. Torok retiring in 1994. Mary Louise is survived by her siblings: Jim (Mary) Schubert, Joe (Sally) Schubert, Rich (Linda) Schubert, Margaret Roberts, Anne (Art) Bernabo, Monica Myrtle, Rita O’Brian and sister-in-law, Becky Schubert; children: David (Pat) Sturm, Raymond (Carol) Sturm, Jeffrey Sturm, Elaine (Max) Worland, Janice (Jeff) Hazelbaker, Brenda Bodkin, John (Carla) Sturm, and Julia (Dave) Leveridge; step children: Rodger (Treva) Murphy, Rose Goncher and fiancé Bob Dunn, Rita (Kevin) Miller, Russell Murphy, Rick (Carla) Murphy, and Ronald Murphy; as well as 25 grandchildren; 23 step grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 28 step great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and 5 step great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband, Hollis Sturm; husband, Billie Murphy; grandson, Matthew Worland; parents, John and Mary Schubert; brother, Bud (Dolores) Schubert; brother, Paul Schubert; sister, Carolyn (Dick) Hudnall; brother-in-law, Jim O’Brian and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior to the service at Park Chapel Christian Church, 1176 E McKenzie Rd, Greenfield, IN 46140.

Pastor David Woods will be officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery in Pendleton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Park Chapel Christian Church, 1176 E McKenzie Rd, Greenfield, IN 46140 or American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
