Mary’s Obituary Mary J. McLean Watkins, age 83, Joplin, passed away at 1:13 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Mercy Hospital. Mary was born June 6, 1935 in Joplin to the late James Edward Gooch and Alice Proctor Gooch and had lived in Joplin all of her life. A homemaker, she had worked at the Area Agency on Aging; the Missouri Department of Conservation and John Cotton Roofing Company, retiring in 2016.

Mary was a long time member of Apostolic Lighthouse of Racine. Her first husband, Frank McLean, preceded her in death on July 15, 1998. She married William A. Watkins on July 25, 2003 in Joplin.

He preceded her in death on September 20, 2011. Survivors include her children, Sally Brown and husband, Steve, Joplin, Frank McLean and wife, Vicki, Joplin, Brenda Sampson, Joplin, Linda Cantrell, Joplin, David McLean and Tabitha Bettes, Joplin; a sister-in-law, Violet Hodges, Mindenmines; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Services are planned for Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Apostolic Lighthouse, Racine.

Kelly Sampson will officiate. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
