MELODY LYNN CARNER, age 57, of Washington CH, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 1:55 a.m. at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 1, 1961 in Fayette County to Zene and Darlene Wheeler Duncan. She was a 1979 graduate of Miami Trace High School.

Melody had worked as a cook at Wintersong Village for several years. She had attended Heritage Memorial Church and the Rose Avenue Community Center. Melody was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

She enjoyed playing games on Facebook, listening to country music, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cincinnati Reds fan. Melody was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Cathy Jo Dudley; and brother, Danny Eugene Duncan. Survivors include her significant other, Benny Laytart; children, Amanda (Marion) Duncan, Michelle (Darren) Doolittle, Melody (Donnie Ary) Carner, Sharon (Bobbey) Spradlin, Barry Laytart, and Chris Laytart; grandchildren, Jason Carner, Shasta Chavez, Andrew Doolittle, and Brantley Ary; siblings, Sandy (John) Meadows, Pam (Sam) Morgan, Kimberly (Daniel Turner) Duncan, and Ronnie Duncan; special friend, Shirley Gilpen; and her faithful feline companion, Bella.

Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery.
