Melvina J. (Brun) Maxwell, age 78 journeyed to the spirit world on January 19, 2019. Melvina was born on April 5, 1940, the daughter of Baptiste and Bertha Maxwell in Red Lake Minnesota. She was raised in Red Lake and went to Red Lake High School.

In August 1960, she married Donald “Bo” Brun, together they made their home in Red Lake. Melvina worked for Comprehensive Health Services at the Day Care Center as a Day Care Aide and later retired as the Director, working there for more than thirty years. Upon retirement she devoted her time to her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

She always stressed the importance of education and taught her grandchildren and prepared them for school by doing educational activities such as reading, writing and art. In her free time she loved reading books, doing puzzles, watching game shows and spending time with her family. Her presence at family gatherings will be forever missed, and the memories made will never be forgotten.

Family that welcome her home, are her parents, husband Bo, son Darwin, grandson Pete, brothers, Ed, George, Allen, Donald and Robert, sisters, Leona, Cecelia, Joanne and Violet. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Mary, Roxanne, Ron (Lisa) and Patrick, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren and her sisters, Ruby Bratvold, June Maxwell, Betty King and brother, John and many nieces and nephews. A wake for Melvina will begin at 2pm Wednesday, January 23, 2019 and continue until her services at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Little Rock Center.

Officiating her services will be Father Jerry Rodgers and burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake, MN. Pallbearers will be Brian Brun Sr., Brett Brun, Rick Jourdain, David Jourdain, Brian Brun, Jr., Brayden Brun, Talon Rosebear, Frank Blue, Darwin Johnson, Curtis Jourdain Sr., Gary Maxwell, Arlie Wipf, Donnie Bo Brun and Jeffrey Brun. Honorary pallbearers will be Roberta Smith, Pam Maxwell, Sharon Garrigan, Rhonda Wipf, Peggy King, Lavonne Infante, Luanne Strong, Diane Graves, Amy Desjarlait, Judy Jourdain, Eljean Sargent and Rae Lynn Sayers.
