Mernice “Nucy” McCann, 62, of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, in the Cleveland Clinic on Saturday, November 17, 2018. She was born on October 29, 1956 to the proud parents, Wilbert “Peco” McCann and Pearlie Faye Roberts-McCann. After the passing of her mother when she was only two months old, Nucy was raised by her aunt, Marzetta “Tee” Pou (and her husband, Clarence Pou), who unconditionally loved her as their own.

She attended Sandusky City Schools and long after graduation showed her determination, going to night classes and receiving her diploma in 2013. Nucy worked at U.S. Tsubaki/Union Chain for 23 years in various positions. She accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a very young age, and became a faithful member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the (then) leadership of Emeritus Pastor Rev.

Eddy Henry and (present) leadership of Rev. Curtis L. Johnson, Jr. While on her sick bed in the Clinic she was always talking about the Lord and singing/humming gospel hymns. She loved her family and friends so much that even when her family would leave to come home to Sandusky she would always say, “I love you and be safe going back home”.

Nucy enjoyed her family time and being with her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. She really loved shopping, and she continued to do so until she was unable. She loved gospel music, watching soap operas (especially The Young and the Restless and General Hospital), and the show, The Walking Dead.

Mernice leaves to cherish her memory her son, Danen McCann, of Peoria, AZ; daughter, Rhonda McCann, of Sandusky; grandchildren, Alex Trussell, Jr., Shantaveonia and Jasaveonia Williams, all of Sandusky, Kaprice Williams, Kaprion, Kapriel, and Kayden McCann, all of Peoria, AZ; special son, Paul “Jude” Hardin; God Children, Areshia Darden and JaNeaya and Jessica Jones; brothers, Larry McCann, of Mesa, AZ, Ernest McCann, of Buffalo, NY, Richard Carter, of Shubuta, MS, and Ollie Lewis, of Sandusky; sisters, Lisa McCann and Mary “Wilaina” McCann-Davis, of Buffalo, NY; special cousins (like brothers), Ernest Ferrell, Willie “Ray” Roberts, James Edward Roberts, Paul Keys, and Phillip Keys; special cousins (like sisters), Dorothy “Soapie” Keys-Green and Laura Keys; best friend, Susan “Susie Mae” Aaron; friends, Pearl Jackson, Barbara Clark, Bernice Taylor, Joyce Pace, O’Kemia Williams, Pastors Mark and Denise Warren, and Don and Chris Martin; cousins, Mitchell Caffey, Maxine Caffey, Janet Ferrell, and Calvin and Claudia Lofton. Special thanks to Minister Gail McGill-Tate, Ernest Ferrell, Jabbar Ferrell, James Edward Roberts, Willie “Ray” and Beverly Roberts, Sharon McGill, Agenda Bonner, Ray Grant, Tracy Pou-Alexander, Dorothy “Aunt Dot” Belmar-Jackson, JaNay Darden, and Sharece Clinton.
