Michael Eugene Wines, age 64, of Battle Creek, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. Michael was born on September 10, 1953 in Battle Creek, the son of Colleen Roberta Uptgraft and Eugene Norman Wines. He was the oldest of four children; Steven Wines, Lynn Wines, and Norman Wines.

Michael was a 1972 graduate of Lakeview High School, and was previously employed by General Motors and A & B Landscaping. Michael was previously married to Connie Sue Thomas for eighteen years. He is survived by their son; Michael Eugene Wines II, his stepdaughter; Christina Marie Thomas, and his grandchildren; Kyle Laforge, Zachary Jacobs, Allison Wines, Dallas Rudd, Michael Eugene Wines III, and Micayla Wines.

Michael “Big Mike” or better known nowadays as “Pops” was a proud father who enjoyed working with his son, to whom he was very close, mainly overseeing ground clean up. His hobbies included hunting, camping, fishing, playing cards and casinos. He was a very proud Grandfather spoiling his grandchildren every moment possible.

Pops was a very giving and caring soul who always had a huge heart for children and animals. His family was very important to him. Although this unexpected loss is devastating, we now know he is no longer in pain, no longer suffering, and has been reunited with both his parents and all three of his siblings.

Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to service. Directly following the service, a celebration of life reception will be held at 8975 Bellevue Rd. Battle Creek, Michigan.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to help with funeral expenses. Condolences may be left for the family at www.
