DAVIS SR, MICHAEL S., 87 OF BLAIRSVILLE, PA passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 at his home. He was born February 20, 1931 in Blairsville, PA, the son of the late Michail Davis and Viola (Kowalsky) Davis. He served in the US Army Field Artillery Battalion, the “Big Red One”, for 2 years during the Korean Conflict.

He was part of a leadership school in the armed services. Mike established Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company in Blairsville, PA in February of 1955. He ran the business for 60 years before retiring in 2015.

He was a member of the SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA where he was chairman of the building committee. He was an avid hunter and trapper. He enjoyed canoeing on the river, ballroom dancing, polkas, traveling and going out for dinner.

Mike is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances “Fran” (Lukcik) Davis, Blairsville, PA; son, Michael S. Davis Jr. & wife, Julie, Clarksburg, PA; son, Edward M. Davis & wife, Carolyn, Blairsville, PA; daughter, Anne M. Davis, Mason, MI; grandchildren: Andrew, Michaela & Max Davis, Andrea, Blake & Isabella Davis and Bernardo Scott and also 1 Niece. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard “Mouser” Davis. The family will receive friends at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc, Blairsville, PA on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 4-8 PM.

A wake service will be held on Monday evening at 7:30 PM in the funeral home. Prayers of transfer will be held at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc, Blairsville, PA on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 9:15 AM, prior to a funeral mass at SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA at 10:00 AM. Fr.

Stephen R. Bugay will officiate. VFW Post #5821 & the American Legion Post #0407 will conduct military services after mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
