Mike Abney June 11, 1941 – March 07, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Carl Michael Abney “Mike”, age 77, of Crawfordsville, Indiana peacefully passed away on March 7, 2019 at the St. Vincent’s Heart Center in Carmel, Indiana. Mike was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana to John and Edith (Perkins) Abney on June 11, 1941. He married Lynnea J (Larsen-Edwards) Abney on July 23, 1994 at Calvary Chapel of Crawfordsville.

Although Mike worked several jobs over the years, he was most content working on his lathe. His beautiful bowls and vases adorn the walls and shelves of businesses and homes throughout the United States and many other countries. Throughout out his life, he was always a lover of nature.

In his early adult years, Mike was an avid hunter. He won many trophies for competition ‘coon hunting. Mike’s love for his Lord Jesus Christ was obvious to anyone coming in contact with him.

He enjoyed teaching and deeply desired to share the Word of God with others. Mike wanted everyone to experience the love and freedom he had experienced through the saving grace of the Jesus Christ. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, John and Edith Abney, and his brother, Gary Abney.

He is survived by his wife Lyn Abney, his children Debbie (Jim) Dixon, Candy Burns, Rose Ramsey, Mike (Jean) Abney Jr., Jason (Shelly) Abney, Julie Abney, Chris Abney, and step-son, Ryan Edwards, as well as his siblings Dewey “Dude” Abney, Terry (Becky) Abney, Lawrence (Phyllis) Abney, Pam (Bill) McIntyre, and sister-in-law Judy Abney. He has 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 12th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Calvary Chapel of Crawfordsville, 915 N. Whitlock Ave.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 13th at the church with Pastor Dave Keesee officiating. There will be one hour of public visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Calvary Chapel Missions.
