Minnie Yates Spencer, 89, of Brookdale Danville went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 3, 2019 in SOVAH Danville after being in declining health for the past six months. Minnie was born in Halifax County on June 10, 1929 a daughter to the late Charlie William Yates and Hattie Compton Yates. She had lived most of her life in Pittsylvania County.

Minnie had retired from Ben David Jewelers where she worked in sales for many years. She was a member of Ringgold Baptist Church where she was active as long as her health permitted, and she was a former member of A.B.W.A. On August 3, 1951, Minnie married the late William Draper (Red) Spencer, Jr., who died on July 2, 1983.

Minnie is survived by one son, W.D. Spencer, III & wife Sandy of Ringgold, VA, one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Spencer & husband Scott Roop of Jackson Hole, WY, two special nieces, Nancy Powell and Debra Testerman. She was predeceased by husband and one daughter Janet Lynn Spencer, three brothers and one sister. Funeral Services for Minnie will be conducted on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel by the Reverend Duane Caldwell and Reverend Carl Burger.

Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will be at W.D. & Sandy Spencer’s home, 1105 Barker Road, Ringgold, VA 24586. The family request that in Lieu of Flowers that Memorial Donations be made to the Ringgold Fire Rescue, P.O. Box 10, Ringgold, VA 24586.
