Obituary for Monica “Tootsie” Chabala 90-year- old, Monica “Tootsie” Chabala of Pana, Illinois, formerly of Assumption, Illinois died Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 1:24 AM at Pana Community Hospital. Monica “Tootsie” Chabala was born Friday, April 6, 1928, in Oconee, Illinois the daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth (maiden name Karbach) Jannink. Monica “Tootsie” Chabala was raised in Assumption, Illinois and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Assumption.

She married William Chabala on July 25, 1962 and he died July 1, 1995. Monica “Tootsie” Chabala worked in the location which was Pana’s Dress Factory, which later become a Glove Factory, and was lastly Mallory Timers until its closure when she retired. Monica “Tootsie” Chabala is survived by Nephews: Jerry Jannink of Shelbyville; Ted Jannink (Brenda) of Pana; Bob Cunningham of Assumption; Nieces: Dana Frailey (Larry) of Pana; Diana West (Robert) of Pana; many great as well as great-great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband William, and six brothers: Robert, Norbert, Herbert, Donald, Melvin, Aloysius (dying in infancy) and one sister, Mary Cunningham.
